This is my body, Lindsay King-Miller

Let me say it boldly : this story is so fucked up ! Okay, That's why I loved it.

I'm a big fan of Lindsay King-Miller's work, and I jumped on this one as soon as I saw it on Netgalley. And I didn't regret it ! It was hell of a ride. I might have traumatized some of my colleague while reading this one during my day-job shift.

If you read The Z Word and you are prepared for something with the same comedic horror vibes then you are definitely not ready for this one. It's tense, dark and gruesome and awesome ! But still a bit witty sometimes.

I'm hopeless for a good exorcism story but This is my body pushes the sub-genre to another level.

So here we are, following Brigid, gay single mom a bit of a mess and just out of a difficut breakup for shady reasons. And Dylan, her lovely daughter, who can understand better than anyone the idiome "family sucks".

Take a fed up teen, possessed by someone who should have leave the living plan long ago, but still has some unsolved family issues; The religious bigot uncle a bit (just a bit ?) on the crazy side and the other people trying to stick around and help until they understand how fucked up this family is. Top up with a bit of spirituality and exorcism and a full trauma packed plot and you have This is my body !

It's witty, dark, painful sometimes and I hope you can root for younger character (I definitely did for Dylan) because Brigid is ...let's say no easy to like, but it could be just me. This story is a banger, perfect for a bit of exorcism kick for the soon to be there Spooky Season.
